Which venetian for which room
What we fit most often across Auckland homes, and why.
Living rooms
Cedar. The grain reads as warm rather than clinical, the slats tilt to take the glare off the TV without closing the room down, and cedar is light enough that a wide blind still raises easily.
Kitchens
Aluminium or faux wood. Both shrug off steam and cooking splatter and wipe clean, where real timber near a hob or sink will eventually move.
Bathrooms & laundries
Aluminium. Slim, moisture-tolerant and easy to keep clean in the smaller windows these rooms usually have.
Bedrooms
Cedar or custom-painted timber for the look. Worth knowing: venetian slats tilt closed for privacy but won’t give the total darkness a blockout roller does — plenty of Auckland bedrooms end up with both.
Villas & character homes
Custom-painted timber. Matching the slats to existing joinery or a heritage palette is the difference between blinds that disappear into the room and blinds that fight it.
Gable & raked windows
An angled venetian. The blind follows the rake along the top while the slats stay horizontal, so a shaped window finally gets the same light control as the rest of the house.
